The Great Gatsby The American Dream depends on the conviction that anybody can prevail in life by their own ability and exertion. The Great Gatsby, is a novel about what befallen the American Dream in the 1920's, a period when the old qualities from which the fantasy rose up out of, had been ruined by the quest for riches.
